Full-Room Soundproofing Using MUTE and BLOCK Systems
Project Overview
Noise between neighbouring flats is one of the most common and persistent problems in residential buildings. In this project, DECIBEL was tasked with providing full-room soundproofing for a client who sought lasting relief from intrusive noise.
The treatment was designed to deliver maximum sound isolation and transform the apartment into a quiet, restful space.
Challenge
Isolating a single wall (typically the one directly adjacent to the noise source) only offers partial relief. Up to 30% of the sound can still enter through untreated ceilings, floors, or side walls.
The challenge was to develop and implement a comprehensive solution tailored to the apartment’s layout and construction, ensuring a balanced and effective result.

Solution
The soundproofing strategy was selected based on multiple factors: wall and ceiling thickness, building type, and potential structural cavities such as chimneys.
DECIBEL’s engineering team used a combination of C-MUTE, MUTE, and BLOCK systems to ensure full acoustic coverage. All materials were installed using a clean and minimally disruptive method that respected the homeowner’s living environment.
Result
The client experienced a substantial improvement in acoustic comfort, with significantly reduced noise levels from neighbouring apartments. The space was successfully converted into a calm, restorative home, protected from the disturbances of everyday urban life.
