Project Overview

DECIBEL’s latest international collaboration brought acoustic refinement to one of North Africa’s leading radio stations — Medi 1 Radio, based in Tangier, Morocco. With a listenership of over 23 million people, the station required a professional-grade acoustic environment that would elevate the clarity of live broadcasts and interviews alike. The project aimed to deliver both precision and comfort for radio hosts and their guests.

Challenge

In broadcast studios, balancing acoustic clarity across all frequency ranges is critical. The challenge here was to create a refined sound environment that would support intelligibility and audio quality during live recordings — all without compromising the station’s layout or aesthetic identity.

Scope of Work

In collaboration with a trusted local partner, DECIBEL supplied and advised on the installation of specialised acoustic materials tailored to the needs of a professional radio studio:

• 3D diffusion ceiling panels (City Sky)

• Corner-mounted low-frequency absorbers (P Bass Traps)

Solution

The acoustic treatment featured two of DECIBEL’s precision-engineered products:

• City Sky 3D Diffusion Panels were installed on the ceiling to manage high-frequency reflections. Their unique geometry scatters sound evenly, enhancing speech clarity and reducing flutter echo.

• P Bass Traps were positioned in the wall corners to absorb low frequencies between 125–250 Hz — a critical range for achieving tonal balance and avoiding boomy or muddy sound.

Result
