Project Overview

A client in Sofia contacted DECIBEL to improve the acoustic conditions in two key areas of their office: the meeting room and the interview room. The client was interested in using acoustic panels not only for their sound absorption qualities but also as a design element to upgrade the visual appearance of slatted walls.

DECIBEL collaborated with an architect to develop a layout that combined acoustic performance with a strong visual impact. The result was a solution that fully met both the technical and aesthetic goals of the project.

Improving Acoustics and Design in Office Meeting Rooms

In modern office interiors, it is common to combine acoustic treatment with design features. This project aimed to reduce echo and improve speech clarity in meeting and interview rooms, while also using GLL panels to add a strong visual accent.

The objective was to make the rooms more comfortable for communication and at the same time integrate the treatment into the final design of the office.

Challenge

The main challenge was to achieve good sound absorption while using the GLL panels as a visible feature on slatted wall surfaces. The panels needed to be arranged in a way that preserved their function while contributing to the overall look of the room.

Close coordination with the architect was required to ensure the layout, colours, and positioning of the panels supported both the acoustic goals and the interior design concept.

Scope of Work

  • Acoustic treatment of two office rooms: one meeting room and one interview room
  • Use of GLL acoustic panels for both sound absorption and visual design
  • Installation of panels to match both acoustic and visual goals

Solution

DECIBEL worked alongside the architect to develop a panel layout that would fit the slatted wall design while offering effective acoustic treatment. The GLL panels were chosen for their geometric shape and textured surface, which support sound absorption and create a strong visual effect.

The panels were installed in precise patterns, using different colours to form a clean and modern wall accent. The layout was carefully planned to ensure a balance between sound performance and design harmony within the office.

Result

The installation of the GLL acoustic panels successfully improved the sound environment in both rooms. The echo was reduced, and conversations became clearer and more comfortable.

At the same time, the panels served as a visual highlight, bringing structure and contrast to the office interior. The final result delivered both acoustic function and visual enhancement, fully matching the client’s expectations.

This project shows how acoustic solutions can be tailored not only for performance but also to fit specific architectural styles.
