Eco-friendly acoustic desk dividers for an office

Project Overview

A client reached out to DECIBEL with a request to design custom desk separators for their new office. The main requirements were clear: the solution had to be eco-friendly, lightweight, and fully customisable in terms of shape and size. The goal was to improve visual privacy and acoustic comfort without affecting the open-plan layout of the workspace.

After a site visit and precise measurements, DECIBEL designed and installed custom separators that met all expectations, such as functionally, visually, and environmentally.

Designing Eco-Friendly Desk Separators

In modern offices, especially those with open desks, there is a growing need for simple solutions that increase privacy and reduce distractions. This project focused on creating lightweight acoustic desk dividers that fit into a four-person workstation, using sustainable materials that match the look of the interior.

The dividers had to include openings for power outlets, smooth curved lines for a refined appearance, and mounting hardware for a stable and clean finish.

Challenge

Scope of Work

Solution

DECIBEL selected FESIGN Screenus acoustic felt panels as the main material for the project. These panels are made from 65% recycled polyester and are fully recyclable, making them a responsible and sustainable choice. They also offer sound absorption and can be customised in size, shape, thickness, and colour.

The separators were designed with soft curves at the ends for a classic visual style. Cutouts were included for easy access to power sockets. The panels were mounted using special hardware to ensure they stayed firmly in place without damaging the desks.

The result was a lightweight, durable, and visually integrated divider system that provided both acoustic comfort and privacy.

Result

The installation was completed successfully, and the custom-shaped separators fit perfectly into the workspace. The client was pleased with the look, feel, and performance of the solution.
