Holistic Office Acoustic Treatment

Project Overview
DECIBEL completed a complete acoustic treatment project for Hyperzon, an office space in Sofia. The interior featured many hard surfaces such as concrete and glass, which created high noise levels and sound reflections. These conditions made the space uncomfortable for focused work and private conversations.
The goal was to improve the overall acoustic environment without compromising the industrial design style of the office. DECIBEL worked in close partnership with COZY Design Studio, which managed the renovation.
Solving Acoustic Challenges in a Modern Office
Modern office spaces often combine open areas, meeting rooms, and hard surfaces like glass and concrete. These materials reflect sound and cause high reverberation. This makes it difficult to concentrate, hold meetings, or ensure speech privacy.
In this project, DECIBEL was asked to reduce echo, improve speech clarity, and block noise between rooms, all while keeping the original design of the office intact.
Challenge
The main challenge was to deliver a solution that matched the client’s acoustic needs and the design vision. Sound leakage between meeting rooms and open workspaces had to be addressed, and every material had to match the industrial aesthetic of the office.
Scope of Work
- On-site acoustic assessments and consultations
- Collaboration with COZY Design Studio during renovation
- Design and installation of various acoustic panels
- Installation of Block System soundproofing walls to reduce sound transfer between spaces
- Custom design and installation of metal ducts to improve speech privacy
- Future plan for custom-printed acoustic panels
Solution
DECIBEL created a complete acoustic treatment system tailored to the different areas in the office. Mesh ceiling panels were installed to reduce echo and add a modern visual element.
In the main conference room, Gyza foam panels were painted black to match the industrial design and provide effective sound absorption. A second meeting room was treated with ACER designer panels, which introduced a wood finish while reducing sound reflections. In the open office areas, textile acoustic panels were used to improve comfort, lower noise levels, and offer easy maintenance.
To reduce noise transfer between rooms, Block System soundproofing walls were installed. Custom metal ducts were also added to block sound and improve speech privacy. Each part of the solution was planned together with the interior designers to maintain the original look and feel of the office while improving its acoustic performance.
Result
The acoustic improvements were completed successfully, Hyperzon shared positive feedback about the results. The space became more pleasant for work and communication. The sound insulation and acoustic treatment were fully integrated into the design of the office.
A future installation of custom-printed panels is planned to add visual identity and continue improving the workspace.
