Sound insulation for Summer Cult nightclub in Varna

Project Overview
Summer Cult is a disco and nightclub located in Varna. The venue was scheduled to open before the start of the summer season in 2017. Because of its location near residential and tourist buildings, it was needed to apply sound insulation to make sure the music would not disturb the surrounding properties.
DECIBEL was invited to work on the project during the early construction phase. The task was to design and implement an acoustic solution for the club, that would meet noise regulation standards while also fitting into the planned architecture of the club.
Sound Insulation Planning During Construction of a Seaside Club
During construction, the lead architects of the project collaborated with DECIBEL’s engineering team to determine the position and size of the club’s open sections facing the sea. This early cooperation made it possible to combine architectural planning with the required sound insulation performance.
The goal was to keep sound levels within acceptable limits, especially for the neighbouring buildings.
Challenge
The challenge was to achieve a balance between effective noise control and the open architectural design of the venue. Openings toward the sea were part of the concept and had to be considered in the acoustic simulation model. The system also had to meet national noise standards and ensure that sound levels would not disturb nearby residents and hotel guests.
Scope of Work
- Acoustic simulation to predict sound pressure levels
- Coordination with architects during the construction phase
- Design of a sound insulation system that fits the open-plan structure
- Selection and installation of VISTO 48 panels for wall and ceiling treatment
- Final measurement of sound levels to confirm compliance with noise regulations
Solution
DECIBEL began the project with a detailed acoustic simulation, which helped define the areas needing treatment and the target noise levels. Based on these results, we proposed a system using VISTO 48, a high-tech, elastic sound insulation panel developed over two years by DECIBEL’s R&D team.
VISTO 48 was applied to walls and ceilings, ensuring that the music inside the club would not be transmitted to the surrounding buildings. The system was integrated into the construction plan without changing the visual concept of the venue.
Result
Once installation was complete, DECIBEL technicians measured the actual sound levels achieved. The values were within the limits set by Bulgarian noise regulations. The project was completed successfully, and the club was able to open on time with full compliance.
The result confirmed the effectiveness of VISTO 48 and showed the value of planning sound insulation early in the design process.
