In early 2022, one client faced complaints about an outdoor air conditioning unit that was disturbing neighbouring buildings.

To preserve the professional and quiet atmosphere expected in such a prestigious location, they turned to DECIBEL for a fast and effective noise control solution.

Challenge

The outdoor AC unit was generating disruptive noise that carried across to nearby buildings.

The challenge was to reduce the sound emissions without restricting airflow or affecting the unit’s performance.

Scope of Work

• On-site inspection and consultation
• Design of a compact soundproof enclosure for the outdoor AC unit
• Supply and installation of Metal perforated PZP panels
• Specialised design of a tilted roof panel for ventilation and heat flow

Solution

DECIBEL engineers designed and installed a small soundproofing enclosure around the AC unit using durable Metal perforated PZP panels.

To ensure proper ventilation and avoid overheating, the roof of the enclosure was constructed with 45-degree tilted panels.

This allowed air and heat to circulate freely while still providing effective noise reduction.

Result

The project successfully reduced noise levels to within acceptable limits, ensuring neighbouring buildings were no longer disturbed.

The AC unit continued to function efficiently, and the client appreciated the discreet design and minimal footprint of the enclosure.
