Soundproofing Outdoor Chiller at the Croatian Sports Museum

Project Overview

The Croatian Sports Museum was facing noise issues caused by an outdoor chiller unit. The disturbance affected both the museum’s internal environment and neighbouring buildings.

DECIBEL was commissioned to design and implement a professional soundproofing solution that would mitigate the noise while maintaining the functionality of the unit.

Scope of Work

• On-site acoustic assessment and noise measurement
• Custom design of a soundproofing enclosure adapted to restricted space
• Integration of louvres on each side and the roof to maintain airflow
• Fabrication and installation of PZP acoustic panels and louvres
• Precise assembly to ensure minimal disruption and maximum efficiency

Solution

DECIBEL engineered a custom-built enclosure using PZP acoustic panels for sound insulation, combined with louvres strategically placed on all sides and the roof.

This design maintained the necessary ventilation for the chiller while ensuring that noise did not spread into the museum or surrounding areas.

The enclosure was carefully adapted to the tight spatial constraints, demonstrating the flexibility of DECIBEL’s engineering approach.

Result

The installation successfully reduced noise from the outdoor chiller unit, restoring acoustic comfort for both the Croatian Sports Museum and its neighbours.
