- Acoustic Treatment For A Conference Room with MUTE SYSTEM
Acoustic Treatment For A Conference Room with MUTE SYSTEM

Project Overview
DECIBEL was selected to deliver a professional acoustic insulation solution for a newly designed conference room in Estonia. The client required a space that would support corporate seminars, meetings, and events with full sound isolation, making sure clarity inside the room and minimal noise disturbance to surrounding areas.
To meet this need, DECIBEL implemented the advanced MUTE SYSTEM™ 33, a proven solution developed in-house for high-efficiency soundproofing in conference halls.
Why Acoustic Treatment Matters
Poor sound isolation can lower focus levels, as well as privacy, and overall event experience. Whether it's a strategic meeting or a full-day seminar, acoustic comfort is essential. Both for internal clarity and to prevent disruptive noise passing through into neighboring rooms.
An effective soundproofing system must address not just visible surfaces but also hidden gaps, mechanical elements, and airways that could worsen performance. This project serves as a key example of how even high-performance systems should be paired with complete site insight for best results.
Challenge
The main objective was to make sure complete sound isolation inside the conference room. Even though the MUTE SYSTEM™ 33 was installed successfully, post-installation measurements showed only a slight improvement in the sound insulation index, falling short of expectations.
After a deeper investigation, the team found a critical oversight: an unreported air duct in the room, which allowed sound to go past the treated surfaces. This breach affected the overall acoustic integrity and showed how even small architectural details can have a huge impact on acoustic performance.
Scope of Work
- Installation of MUTE SYSTEM™ 33 for walls and structural elements
- On-site acoustic assessment and post-installation testing
- Root-cause investigation of unexpected sound leakage
- Recommendation of follow-up treatments to address remaining transmission paths
Solution
Following the discovery of the air duct, DECIBEL’s engineering team conducted a full on-site acoustic analysis to isolate all potential leak points. The case showed the importance of detailed site data collection in the early design phase. DECIBEL highlighted that full collaboration between client and acoustic specialists is needed in order to avoid hidden problem areas that can later compromise even the most advanced insulation systems.
Result
Although the initial acoustic performance fell short due to factors outside the system’s scope, the project validated the reliability of MUTE SYSTEM™ 33 under standard conditions. And even more importantly for everyone, it once again highlighted the value of that detailed pre-installation assessments lead to better-informed decisions and improved results.
