MUTE SYSTEM™ 23 is a frameless, ultra-thin soundproofing solution designed for residences, offices, hotels, schools, and industrial buildings. At just 23 mm thick, it integrates seamlessly into any project while delivering innovative and certified acoustic insulation. Imagine being able to enjoy peace, focus, and privacy without compromise, whether working in a busy office, relaxing at home, or teaching in a lively classroom. With MUTE SYSTEM™ 23, silence becomes part of the design.

How It Works

MUTE SYSTEM™ 23 applies the Mass-Spring-Mass principle, one of the most effective methods for blocking airborne sound. The dense gypsum fibreboard provides the mass, the high-density PU foam core creates the spring, and the existing wall completes the system as the second mass layer. This construction disrupts sound waves in both directions: incoming noise is absorbed by the existing wall and further weakened by the MUTE panel, while outgoing sound is first blocked by the MUTE panel and then dampened by the existing wall, keeping activities private.

At the heart of the system are DECIBEL’s patented DClox™ fasteners, which minimise surface contact to less than 1%. This reduces vibration transfer through the wall and significantly improves acoustic performance.

Proven Acoustic Results

MUTE SYSTEM™ 23 delivers its strongest performance in the midrange frequencies, where everyday sounds occur, such as speech, TV, and music. It is designed using Finite Element Modelling (FEM) for precise acoustic prediction and verified in an independent, accredited laboratory.

Certified under:

  • EN ISO 10140-2:2010 - Measurement of sound insulation of building elements
  • EN ISO 717-1:2013 - Rating of sound insulation performance

Key Specifications

  • Thickness: 23 mm
  • Dimensions: 1200 × 1000 mm
  • Weight: approx. 17.4 kg per panel
  • Fire resistance: classification B, s1-d0 (EN ISO 13501-1:2018)
  • Materials: Gypsum fibre-board and high-density PU foam

Installation Overview

  • Delivered as a complete package: panels, DClox fasteners, screws, dowels, and washers
  • Easy installation with common tools, avoiding the complexity of traditional drywall soundproofing
  • Fixed directly onto existing walls using five DClox mounts per panel
  • Requires only basic tools; no specialised equipment needed
  • Finished with 12.5 mm or 15 mm gypsum board for a smooth, paint-ready surface
  • Once installed and finished, the wall remains visually unchanged, while its acoustic performance is transformed

Performance Upgrades

  • DClant acoustic sealant: +3 dB
  • DCvisco visco-elastic membrane: +3 dB
  • DCstrip isolating tape: +2 dB

Best Suited For

  • Residential projects (apartments, homes, home cinemas)
  • Commercial spaces (offices, meeting rooms, hotels)
